Guitar Review
2010 DBZ Bolero FM
(made in Korea)
We received this guitar on Thursday July 29th. Since then about
a dozen people have asked to check it out in our store.
The minute you pick it up, the instrument exudes a quality reminiscent of a
USA built Guitar. That being said, I'm referring to it's weight, feel of the V
shaped neck and instant resonance with the lightest of playing and the
pure overall tone that comes out of this guitar.
Fit and finish is amazing. I noticed no flaws at any glance.
The body is made up of a mahogany base, with what looks like a 3/4" solid
maple top with a flamed maple veneer. Not a big deal since the top is 3/4"
maple anyways. The neck is mahogany and on top is a quarter sawn piece
of dark rosewood, the good kind and frets are medium jumbo on a 12"
radius arc. Great feel, straight neck, and ease of playability all the way up.
There are no buzzes but I did have to do a minor setup due to area of the
country temperature differences there were during shipping.
The tuners are Grover, the pickups are Dean's own design and add a
nice warm but biting feel and allows the sound to be
very quiet in all selector positions.
Balance of the guitar on a strap is good, it's sits at about 2 o'clock with a
3 degree neck angle and what looks like a 14 degree headstock angle. A
chrome and black DBZ emblem adorns the headstock giving
it a museum type artifact type allure to the guitar.
Like a soon to be classic Vintage Instrument, the DBZ Bolero is setting the
stage to become the Lester William Polsfus
of the 21st Century. Try one, you will walk out of the store with it
I guarantee it.
