Gladiator GG258
From the makers of Blueridge Guitars
We got this guitar on 11/17/2010
It was a nail biting event just waiting for this thing to be delivered.
I first noticed this in a
Saga catalog somewhere in the middle just sitting there
The moment i saw the picture, the asymetrical curl of the flame top figure, the smooth carve of the
top, the bright cherry burst finish, I thought this guitar is
reminiscent of an anniversary 1999 Tom Murphy dialed in LP.
We can't call it what we'd like to call it but it is what it is
And that it is a really nice well made guitar
You pick this guitar up, it feels expensive.
The Gladiator GG258 is a high end electric guitar
It doesn't matter what name a guitar has on it's headstock, if it's made well, using seasoned well
cared for woods, a good design and correct geometry and if it plays and sounds nice,
then branding is irrelevant in this day and age.
From the carve of the solid ,maple top, to the delicate carving of the binding along the ends of the
frets, this guitar had a pre-determined destiny and that was to blow doors on guitars
costing 3 times as much.
The neck is quarter sawn mahogany and is topped off with  very nice piece of quarter sawn
rosewood with 22 medium sized frets and pearloid trapezoid inlays in the classic sense and layout
Chrome plated Wilkinson humbuckers play a big part in transmitting the sound to the road in this
guitar and they ring out true and clear with no microphonics at all.
Chords are strong and phrased full, not individual messes like some guitars delivery and you cn
feel the whole body resonate. This is due to a full neck tenon joint running right to the
back edge of the rhythm pickup cavity, giving the string energy transfer rate full power.
It sits on your body comfortably, not too heavy or light,
just right, weighing in at about 8 1/2 lbs.
Now to the look,
the finish is a nicely graded faded brown sunburst, (looking cherryburst in pics)
and the flame top ripples with an old look underneath. Not too perfect in the book matching, but
that's what makes it look authentic. There were many original '58 and 59's that were mismatched
and not even close, and that's what added to the magic.
No one would have guessed that, that guitar at $249.50 with case would be what it is today.
This guitar breathes that fire that those guitars did back then.
While it's not dead on perfect in some small aspects, it's first impression makes you say Wow
even more so when you play it.
I took the guitar apart when i got it, looking for faults, couldn't find any but did find a solid 1/2"
maple top and a deep tenon neck joint and the proper carve to the top and the neck heel.
I just ordered three more of these, 2 in the same finish and the other in Vintage Cherry burst
and I can't wait to see these others.
These will quickly become an instant classic and sought after guitar
There are only a few being produced right now and I believe I have 95% of them that
have been built so far.
Add on of these to your arsenal, you will play it all
the time...
